Lead Character Artist

As a Lead Character Artist, you will be in charge of the Character team at Wolcen Studio and take part in developing new objects, characters and creatures, in our journey to develop our next unannounced project.

This can be an on-site (Nice, France) and/or remote position.

Responsibilities:

Preparing and sculpting characters while considering game design constraints and respecting a strong artistic direction
Act as a technical referent for questions related to the creation of characters
Support artists on good practices related to the development of game characters/monsters and 3D objects
Work closely with the Animation team and VFX team to bring life to the characters
Modeling and Texturing 3d assets along with the team
Actively participates in technical and artistic problem solving
Use advanced knowledge of human and animal anatomy to ensure that models achieve a high level of functionality and design aesthetics

Skills & Requirements
Qualifications & Skills :

5+ years of experience creating characters and 3D objects for games
A minimum of 3 years in leading Character teams (including mentoring and offering feedback team evaluations)
A good eye for sculpting, detailing and posture
Mastery of Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter, and Marvelous Designer
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with the team
Good knowledge of Substance Designer is a plus
Excellent level of English
Strong communication skills
Ability to multitask with strict time constraints, budgets and business goals
Shipped at least one AAA title on PC or consoles

Formed in 2015 following the successful funding campaign of our first title, Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, the company has subsequently grown from a handful of driven individuals to a full studio of 90 people. Our flagship title Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem was fully released in February 2020 and the studio has been supporting the game with content and updates since.
